Question APEXI POWER FC... CORRECT ONE FOR 93 WRX ???

I'm looking to possibly get hold of an Apexi Power FC ECU for my '93 WRX saloon...

Obviously mine's a version 1 (A), but would any of the other 4-plug ones be compatible i.e. those with the serial number codes:

'PFC GC8A...'
'PFC GC8B...'
'PFC GC8C...'
'PFC GC8D...'
'PFC GC8E...' (is this E MY a 4-pug, anyhow?)

Will any of these work, or can I ONLY use the (now discontinued) 'PFC GC8A...' version?

Thanks, John.

EDIT: Also, does having the Power FC mean that the MAF sensor can be junked?!

You can only use the A , this model is discontinued and you will have to continue using the MAF....
My advice would be to purchase a SimTek instead....

I think you need to make people aware you are a trader there Martyn, one who sells the Simtek ECU too!

The Apexi PowerFC the OP is after is the A-C model, covering revisions A, B and C. They are not discontinued, infact a new run is being manufactured as we speak, and they are due to be within the UK in 2-3 weeks.

That said if you're after more than 350hp on an pre96 car, then I would recommend a MAFless ECU such as the Simtek.

Question

Many thanks for the replies guys

Zen, do you install 3rd party-supplied Simteks, remove MAF, etc. and live map them? If so how much, etc. (PM me if needs be)?

What's the typical 2nd hand going rate of Simteks, these days? Is it a 'one size fits all' ECU, or are there different versions for the different MY's (like the PFC)?

Cheers.

I stand corrected Paul , so long since I have sold one...

If I wish to sell the SimTek direct to people then I will of course use our advertising login to do so...
I wished only to promote what is a very good product as the other dealers will no doubt agree...
Further to this my advice was a general steer in the right direction for the chap who also asked about the MAF being junked...

Not exactly independant, non biased advice though! Even though it's pretty good advice nonetheless.

Question

What with the early 92-96 MAFs being robust, is it actually necessary to junk it (by having to have Simtek), if all I wanted to aim for was 300-350bhp? Because if not, then I'd like to save some dough by getting either Apexi PFC or, even cheaper, the ESL daughterboard?

Is that reasonable thinking?...

Thread resurrect!!! ^^^

It's okay mate - my old car was indeed mapped on the OEM green label MAF on the PFC by Zen (it still had the 380cc inj. and TMIC - so 282bhp was all it made anyway ).

But since have sold that car...
