Default Please help with my squeik!

Hi. I've got an annoying and loud squeik/squill/very slight grinding noise coming from the passenger front wheel of my 2000 bug eye sti. It gets faster as i go faster and worse when i turn corners. I've had two mechanics look at my car and neither of them can say what it is. I've put new brake pads in all round as they were low and hoped that would help. No luck there though.

I'm desperate to sort this asap as it's undrivable cause it makes so much noise. If anyone could help i'd really appreciate it as it's starting to drive me crazy.

Could be C.V. joints and / or a wheel bearing. A wheel bearing would make noise that increased with speed, I had a C.V. joint go on a car along time ago and from memory it was more of a clicking sound as the car went around a bend.

I would try and find an experienced mechanic that has some Subaru knowledge.

Not good, I had exactlly the same on my car a wee while back. I stripped and re-greased the brakes but still had the squeek!!!!! The car was due an MOT soon anyway so decided to book it in early.
Turned out it was a wheel bearing! ( never heard them make that noise before!!! ) and it has badly damaged the drive flange too! seemingly the bearing has sezied and the drive flange has been turning on a sezied bearing!! They said there was no free play on the bearing either so not an easy one to spot.
I would get it looked at ASAP just incase as I'm pretty sure I'm looking at a heffty bill!!!

I've just bought a new set of wheel bearings from e-bay. I've done a few searches on fitment and it seems they need to be pressed in and out. Has anyone any idea how long this takes on a bugeye? Just so I can get an idea of how much my mechanic should be charging me! Would it be obvious to a mechanic if the drive flange was worn? Or is this something I need to ask him to check?

Thanks for all your replies.
