Default SICK forester stb (wrx engine)

Hi all

hope someone can throw some light on the running problem that started yesterday afternoon.

my forester is a stb, auto, 1997 its got the wrx turbo engine in it.

Started fine warmed it up,started my jurney no power, 2/3000 refs foot to the floor doing 25/30mph it did not want to know, pulled over and it ticked over and reved fine when still ,but as soon as i wanted the revs to go forward it bogs down again, managed to get it home.

called the RAC,it would not restart, they turned up and said that the fuel pump was not working.

So removed the fuel pump this morning from the tank, tested it ,it was fine working when i put power to it,so i reinstalled it,started the car, fired first time, ticked over nicley but when you ref it was all over the place strugging at times to remain ticking over (whats going on)

would it be the fuel filter??

checked the air filter (fine)
no leaks on any pipes that i can see.

it just seems that when you stand there with the engine running it has i mind of its own, struggling at times then all is well, then it struggles again.

i have tryed to explain it as best i can HELP!

paul
