Very poor mpg....why?
I'm only getting approx 14 mpg from my newly purchased N reg STI version 2, It has decatted exhaust and downpipes and K&N air filter. Its imported and running standard map and ecu.
Can someone please tell me why the mpg is so low, I was expecting at least 20mpg+. I haven't been driving like a lunatic so any suggestions on what could be causing this would helpful????
Thanks
Kev

I'm using Shell V-power, filled up the tank which I think is 45 litres and got approx. 130 miles.
Is there anything that could be causing it to be so low? Sensors, etc?

I was just gonna say, check out my post.
I don't mind if you carry on this conversation in my post - may help for future readers?
Just to add tho, check the fault codes yourself by connecting the two black connectors under the steering wheel. Might throw up a code.
I get around 140 - 160 off a full tank mate! Buying a new lambda this weekend! Already had a new engine coolant temp sensor fitted.

when i first got my turbo 2000, i put a full tank in it, and then drove it almost constantly as i loved it so much, an i got around 220-250 miles to it, there was quite alot of playful driving involved too.

im another 20 miles to the £10 scooby owner... final classic shape uk turbo
i dont know maybe somethin is wrong maybe its normal. mind you my 1998 2.0 16valve mondeo does 40 miles to £10 and i have to drive it at high revs to move compared to the impreza.
i am constantlly flooring the impreza when safe to do so and cant help myself when at the front of lights.

You should be getting more than that. Normal mixed driving should return above 20 atleast. All the claasics that I have owned (sti 3/4, uk turbo my99) have all returned no less than 20mpg. Quite often i'd be nudging 25mpg and that was very little motorway use.
Get it checked out mate. 14mpg certainly isn't the norm.

Its looking likely that I'll achieve approx. 220 from the next tank of petrol so I'm guessing it may have been because the car hadn't been used for a while and also a heavy right foot while I got used to the car.
Thanks for all your replies, at least I know what to check if the mpg drops in future.
