Default Cold Start Problem

Just bought an STi RA, when she's warm she drives superbly but i went to use it tonight and it took ages to get start. When i eventually got it running it miss fired, popped and back fired until it was warm, then it ran without fault..........any ideas?
Dave.

Coolant temp sensor might be faulty. Use the procedure in the manual to test it.
Spark plugs could also be fouled causing same problem.

As did I on my 1995 import.

However the difference being, his problem goes away when the engine is warm. Mine didn't. The coil pack was knackered, so it ran like that constantly. Not just when it was cold.

Coolant Temp Sensor would be my choice. It's also the cheapest thing to try.

Thanks guys, all thoughts much appreciated!! I left the car overnight then started it this afternoon, instantly started albeit a little on the lumpy side. The weather was pretty mild today so i'll get the coolant sensor changed and hope for the best
Dave.
ps....she's a '95 version 2 STi RA.

Check the fault codes before doing anything!

Yup, check the fault codes.

But if you need to get a coolant temp sensor the part number is 22630AA041.
