Default Going for more power!

Hi All,
Ok so we have a standard 04 STI and have just spoken to scooby clinic and it's going to set me back £1300 to up the power to 305bhp to 320bhp.

Will this be a noticible gain in drivability and performace?

Any one else ever had this level done, Would be very interested to know.

If everyone recommends this i'm going to call them back and book it in.

Thanks

Chris

The car is 276bhp at the moment so its' between 30 to 45bhp increase.

most likely that will include exhaust, induction kit of some kind and ecutek remap so thats about right price wise.

You wil notice a hugh difference, the torque should be much higher giving a lot more midrange punch
You will also notice how much quicker the standard turbo will spool up with exhaust freed up as standard 2.5" system with cats is very restrictive

Yes that's right.

I said it's standard but i have a K&N cold air induction kit and a blitz cat bacl exhaust.

It basically include uprated fuel pump, Sports CAT, ECU and full set up.

If it really is that much of a differance i will go for it.

At the moment it's seems really laggy so i hope this will improve as well.

Woah there!!

You have a cold air induction kit fitted to the car already and you've not yet had it remapped???

I would suggest you drive it off boost till the map lest you engine not survive that long!! Your Maf will be misreading the airflow thanks to the CAIK, causing the car to run lean; you may be one spirted drive away from a buggered piston and a build for a rebuild!

Then £1300 seems expensive. Ask them what each item costs and post back here.

But yes, if mapped correctly, you should notice a big difference.

I think it was 550+vat for the ECU
£100+ vat for the Rolling road time

So with a Sports cat around £200+ ish and a pump around £200+ it sounds about right.

Sounds fair ... sorry hadn't factored in the RR time ... used to mapping my car elsewhere

So with a Sports cat around £200+ ish
RCM charge £160 for a cat (excluding fitting)

and a pump around £200+
£165 fitted - from their website

Still seems a little dear to me, but it's your money.

I did most of the work you mentioned above myself. It's pretty straight forward if you know one end of a spanner from another (excluding remap of course). You can save youself a fortune over the prices quoted above. There is plenty of info on line about how to do it.

You might be right, I would hand everything over to a mate of mine that runs his own Garage that used to prepare my sprint car but he does'nt do thing like the mapping.

I might have shop round for part prices first.

Thanks a lot

You wont go with Simon either he is too modest to say how good he is and is always happy to provide help even after your car is mapped
