Subaru Impreza FAQ

With 276+ bhp, and 260 lb/ft of torque, mated to a shorter close ratio gearbox, the later Japanese specification Impreza's have the ability to out accelerate virtually all other cars on the road. Official figures are 0-62mph (100km/h) in about 4.9 seconds

Just to clarify, 276 for a saloon, 240 if you have a Wagon (you don't say what you have!), this is to Japanese test standards, if tested to European standards you can typicaly expect to get about 10% less than that (eg 237bhp Honda S2000 engine typically gives 215bhp when tested to DIN standards).

UK cars started with 197 and went to 215bhp from 97MY.

98 wrx is 280ps (276bhp) which was the gentlemens agreement in Japan.

It's not 240ps as that is what the first wrx saloons were running.

according to that so called gentlemans agreement if th ewrx was 280ps then there would have been no point in having the sti also.

I`m fairly certain its the sti thats 280ps and the wrx was around 260ps

Why not have a better trim level for a car (which for the STI included better engine, gearbox, DCCD).

coilpacks and plugs are an easy place to start looking (unless they've been changed recently)
