Default diff oil

a few questions for you guys.....
how often should the diff oil be changed?
what oil should be used?
is it an easy job to do?
and i take it it's just a case of taking the filler and drain plugs out, draining the old oil, plug back in the bottom fill up and top plug back in?
cheers
