Default decat vs sportscat

About to order a new system for my 2003 WRX and I'm going for a 2.5 inch magnex system, but using my ninja backbox.

Was initially going to go for a sportscat but was told would be better with a decat. My only worry is the noise, I do a lot of motorway miles and I don't mind a bit more noise, but I don't want a constant drone which you need to crank up the stereo to remove.

Can anyone give me an idea of the difference between the 2??

Cheers

Mike

Had full magnex system on my old turbo 2000 but with H and S backbox. This was great as it was a mildly loud burble at lower revs, inc motorway crusing but came alive at 3500rpm.

Now have sti ppp so just has sports cat in dp. Seems quieter but may be just better cabin insulation? Again though comes to life at higher revs. I was seriously considering getting sportscat for previous car due to MOT hassle etc as there is very little difference in power output (allegedly). Also think decat dp makes turbo whistle more audible rather than massively increasing the burble?

Sorry I can't give any before and after comparisons on either car. As hinted, I would go for sports cat.

Cheers DNC, MOT's not a problem as my mate has his own garage with MOT station, just don't want something that will shake my fillings out when I'm driving long distances. Previously had an induction kit fitted which I removes as the reacket was doing my head in, if this is the same with decat, I may rethink this
