Default Cambelt Problem

Got a 95 WRX Impreza just had a cambelt 2 weeks before i purchased the car.Now the tension on the belt seems to come loose if i slacken the bolt through the tensioner it pops tight again then i can tighten it back up and runs fine no problems. Then after a few approx 10miles the tension is gone and you can here the belt whipping when it runs.I have changed the hydraulic tensioner and its the same again after approx 10 miles.Any ideas please

Cheers

If your sure your tensioner is not leaking:
Line up your timing marks and remove the tensioner.
Compress it and lock it in the compressed position before refitting.
Double check your timing marks and remove the locking pin.
Rotate the engine by hand two complete revolutions.
Double check timing marks.
Your '95 WRX should have the earlier tensioner with 2 retaining bolts.
The later tensioner has a single retaining bolt.
Dont confuse the eccentric idler with the tensioner on the earlier models.

My mistake its a 94 L plate not 95 mate but it has a single bolt.I have no way of knowing if its the cars original engine tbh.I have bought a new cambelt anyway to fit tommorow incase that ones has been stretched would that be possible ? as i spoke to the previous owner earlier who said they had problems when the last cambelt was fitted which i have just learned now,Cheers
