Hi,

I've just fitted a boost gauge to my 1998 uk turbo and it seems to be overboosting!!

It seems to be running at around 1.2-1.3bar bar boost under full throttle in 3rd 4th and in this cold weather, boost cuts in 5th at around 1.4bar!!?

Its got a stainless rear exhaust and k&n panel filter but i wasnt aware it has had anything else done to it....

Any ideas what the problem could be???

I thought the std UK turbo hit boost cut at 1.2. bar. What guages do you have mate, is the boost one plumbed in correctly?

Std boost is .9 bar I believe.

Might be worth takin this to a specialist- if accurate that boost is too high for a std, unmapped car!

Its only a cheapy gauge but it seems to read pretty consistantly,

Hmmm.... i gues if it was the gauge over-reading by 0.2-0.3 bar then everything would be normal??

It doesnt seem to detonate or anything but is quick as ****!!

How do you know its not detting?

Most people don't till the engine goes pop!

I'd get the car looked at in case someone has fitted a dawes and cranked the boost up without thought for fueling etc...
It may just have had a remap, but it still shouldn't be producing 1.4 bar without supporting mods!
