Default TPS throttle position sensor

Hello

I haven't been on here for a while but i have brought an MY98 uk turbo 2000 estate. I have had the car for a couple of months now and has all been fine.

I thought i would read the error codes the other day and it came up with 31 TPS. I done an ecu reset and it went away. I checked it again this morning and still no fault codes so i thought i would just test the tps by using the manual and testing it at the ecu.

Before i started messing around the reading was 0.77 fully closed and 6.24 fully open so i know this is wrong.

I tried to adjust it and for some reason its now reading 7.44 fully closed and 1.40 fully open?

I can't get it below 7v fully closed at all .

The car still drives and idles fine after another reset.

Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on ?

Cheers Jamie

Right I've taken the tps off the car now. Im test it in ohms now,

Fully closed 4.95
Fully open 0.07

All done at 20k on my multi meter.

So to me it seems fine. Can you lot agree?

Is there a way of testing if off the car using resistance?

Right i have put it back on the car now. It i go between pins 14 & 16 on the ecu i get 4.6v. If i go between 16 and a good earth source i get 0.5v on fully closed. So i set it up this way using pin 16 and earth and i have got it spot on.

Fc 0.5
Fo 4.3

But if i go back to pin's 14 & 16 i get 4.6v fc and 1.3v fo?

I really need some help guys any ideas?

The car runs really poor on cold start up but if i give it a rev is clears out all the fuel and runs fine?
