Default Do You Need To Remove The Air Con, When Reversing The Inlet manifold?

Guys and Gals,

I'm trying to reduce my lag and looking into reverse mounting the inlet manifold.

My research tells me I've got to remove the air con pump? Is this right, is there no other way? as I don't really want to do that.

Also, is it easier to use the version 3 or 4 inlet manifold for the conversation, baring in mind I have a version 2 Impreza.

Cheers all.

in a word yes. you have to move the alternator out of the way and the only place that can go is where the aircon compressor is. Here's a pic of mine.

the only easy way to keep the air con is to use an electric power steering pump or lose the ps... the pipe takes up the space of one of the three units.. ps, alternator, air con etc..

just open the windows in the summer

In my opinon yes. Boost doesn't really kick until 4500rpm. It was alot lower before I added my equal lenght headers. And yes I have had the engine mapped since.

I'm looking into other mods to help, but while I'm at it I'm researching this area first. Every little helps.

I always though equal length headers are an improvement, so how come turbo lag increases???

4500 rpm for boost , wow what size of turbo do you have?.....i can ony imagine its a monster or something else is wrong.

im running a td05/06 20G on a 2ltr and full boost(1.65barg) is achieved at a little over 3200 rpm.

What turbo do you have and supporting mods?
