Default Which Cat will withstand ALS?

Hi

I got an Ecuteck programmed ALS on my Scooby and need to fit some Cats for registration.

What kind of Cat or which model will work best with this without having to replace the Cat every few months?

Thanks

Just fit a cat for registration then fit a decat...?

Take it the ALS is switchable, in which case you probably won't have it on too often anyway?

Well I would prefer having one Cat on the car since I will probably get stopped a lot by the police.

The ALS is switchable and I will probably only need it on track or for races.

Programmed by a guy who does Ecutek maps for Rally cars.

SO no one has an idea for the cat?

IMO you'd remove the cat for racing, then refit it for use on the road....
Slung under the car in the middle position would be preferable.

If you're loath to remove it, fit it as far back as possible. Though on the road it's likely it'll never get hot enough to work properly.

I would think the explosions from an ALS would disintegrate the CAT in no time. Do you know how your mapper made it switchable? There would be a lot of people interested on here!

Most ALS are switchable, mine gets very hot in a short space of time, the cat would not last long at all. Comes in handy for drying out the heat wrap quickly

Agreed the aftermarket ECU's have switchable ALS, but he's running an ECUTEK ALS, which is not a standard feature.

As far as I know I have two different maps on the ECU through Ecutek. One is with and one without ALS.
I think it works somehow with extra fuel which keeps the pressure up on the turbo.

So for the cat is a ceramic or a metallic better?

Metal cat, positioned in the centre section should be okay, Rossi make some good ones for the job.

What size system are you using?
I've got a complete new Prodrive Gp N 2.5" system in the garage doing nothing that's got the cat towards the back of the centre section.

I didn't know you could even have two maps. Is it a JDM?

Would love to get the ALS switchable.

Already got a full 3" system. Just has no cats so far.

The Ecu is 03 Spec C, so it is JDM.

Thanks guys

I know they have been doing anti-lag with Ecutek remaps on Evos for a while, but didn't realise that they offered the service with the Impreza, who is mapping the car?

Just a thought, have you checked out whether there would be any detrimental effects of anti-lag on the IHI turbo, as you know, IHIs are 'rumoured' to be a bit fragile compared to their Garrett and Mitsi equivalents.

So far no problems.

I heard of the extra wear on the turbo.
I will use ALS only for track and even there only on special ones.

I am located in Switzerland and the maps where not done here, so I guess it will be no use for you guys.
