Default 2 problems on 96sti ra

Car is a 96 STI RA Mcrea

1st which another thread may have answered, when driving slow car runs at normal temps, when up to speed on motorway say, temp gauge drops to near zero.... Thermostat? water levels fine.....

2nd it was a bit bloody wet out today lol..... Car started misfireing when load was applied, soon as you hit any kind of boost it misfires, and even when driving at normal pace when it got really wet out it was starting to misfire under normal cruise load????

Question, had a bump and am awaiting parts, but right now there is no spray shield/wheel arch cover under the drivers wing, plus the white resonatator/intake tube thingy got broke and isnt there could water be causing this misfire by too much getting into airflow. Checked filter and it was pretty sodden when i got home?

Also how important are the plate covers under the hood vents? new bonnet i got didnt have the plates?

Thanks in advance....

Water getting into the filter isn't going to help the misfire problem.

Is it an induction kit or panel filter?

I expect because you don't have the schnorkel/spray sheild thing the water is spraying up into the filter.
Since it's stock intake system i don't think the plates under the vents are going to matter.

Hi
I had the same problem with the recent wet weather and i had the vent covers removed and replaced with mesh to aid in engine cooling.
The car ran like a bitch stuttering and missfiring so i thought it must be water getting into the engine so i replaced the vent covers again and aint had a problem since...

confirmed dry day today and car ran like a dream again.... vents going back on and air feed tube going into intake from bumper that should fix it
