Intake manifold spacers
Hey all,
Has anyone fitted the intake manifold spacers? What material are they and do they have issues with the nuts becoming looooose during use? I've already got the header tank spacers which are good but minor concern I need to keep re-tightening the bolts due to the spacers being tufnol.
Anyone get them fitted? Just wonder what the hours would be for fitting.
Do they make much difference?

there are a couple of different materials that are used iirc, phenolic is one, tuffnol as you have said another, i have some phenolic ones fitted to my UK MY99 as supplied by Carl Davey, i had no problems at all with bolts coming undone as they bolt against the manifold same as normal, Carl supplies longer bolts in his kits as well iirc, you will need x 4 inlet manifold gaskets as well don't forget.
As for whether they work, well i could touch my inlet manifold and it not feel hot after a hardish run so as insulators i guess they do work well, they deffo stop a significant amount of heat transfer from the engine to the inlet manifold which can only be good! I will be fitting a set to my V4 Sti after crimbo.

Hi all,
Hmm, still unsure if to bother or not, as like you say, no cheap mod and I'd prefer garage to do it as I've never taken the manifold off before, nor do I have all the specialist kit to do proper re-fit with longer bolts etc should one stick.
The main thing I'm not sure on as to go for it or not is that I have water injection, maybe just increasing the water rate slightly would do the same thing? Just dont know what's best
