Default who's using 15w 50 oil in winter?

I know oil discussions are a minelfield on here but does anyone reckon this is too thick for the really cold weather, i get the impression its taking alot longer to warm up and on short journeys doesnt get up to normal temp, i do drive it very easy but just wanting peoples thoughts.

engine slightly tappy for the first 20sec on idle too, then goes away when warm, prob coz oil is getting circulated quick enough after sittin up for a day or 2

Im getting a service next week for the winter and was gonna opt for 10w 50 silkolene as opposed to 15w 50 Mobil 1 MS which was put in during the summer

Cheers

My personal feeling is it's too thick.

I allways use shell helix ultra 5w 40 in my cars in the winter.
