Default Turbo Q

Hi folks,

When I bought my Sti I was told by the previous owner that it had had its turbo replaced due to something to do with one of the inlet pipe breaking and going into the turbo resulting in the blades getting a little bashed

Anyways I understand that a 97 Sti should have a IHI VF series turbo fitted, but how can I tell it is the correct turbo by looking at it? Are there any markings or serial numbers on it etc?

I just want to be able to check it so I can make sure its not been replaced with a WRX item or so...

Thanks in advance.
