Default Induction kits

Is an after market induction kit worth it?

Looking into the Apexi range for a 2002 STI bugeye (UK)

But i have heard the standard box is better due to heat from the turbo??????

If this isnt the case will a 2003 kit fit onto the bug eye? Does it matter from WRX to STI or not??

Thanks, Sam

Hi Sam

I ran an induction kit (Blitz SUS and Powertec) and actually found I lost power when I was running minor mods.

Not sure of your intentions but from experience proabably better to run with the panel filter.

I now have a biggish K&N filter with heat shield but this followed the new 18G turbo; exhaust and remap

Not doing major engine mods.
Just wasn't sure on little mods to produce a few more BHP...

So aftermarket panel filter FTW?

Unless you're going for a FMIC (in which you need to remove the airbox for the FMIC piping (in most cases)), stick with the standard airbox... AndyF's WRX which made 370-something bhp was still on standard air box and so are many reasonably powerful cars on here...

I'd save the difference between a panel filter and an induction kit myself and stick it towards a remap, because that will make a massive difference (all in my opinion, but I'm not a tuner or anything)

Edit: remap should cost you about 650 all in plus a fuel pump upgrade (~ 80 quid)
