Default Bore and Line 2.0 CDB to 2.2????

Thinking of the option of building a 2.35 from a 2.0 CDB instead of buying a 2.5 from the US.

I guess this would mean Boring the block out to a 2.2 and fitting new liners.

Doesn't something else in the block need to be machined to take the later style crank aswell ?

Who can do this and roughly what does it cost??

Cheers, have read that before, but from a quick look just now seen prices between £650-£1500 for the lining

Looks like SMG do it, anyone got contact details for these??
and possibly Lateral Performance (i'll contact them today)

how thick are the stock cylinder walls on a closed deck ej20?
what would happen if you bored it from 92 to 97mm?

I really wouldn't recommend taking 2.5mm out of the liners, that's more than the 2.5lt blocks start with !!!

Dean I have replied to your email.

Thanks Mark
By liners do you mean the factory cylinder walls or aftermarket sleeves?

Has anyone ever tried boring a stock ej20 closed deck block to 97mm? How much power do you think it could handle?

Optical,

I mean the stock liners. To over bore by 5mm is way too much.

I think 1mm over is generally considered the max, if you're going to run decent power.

You'll also find that any bigger than 1mm, and you'll need to get custom pistons made, and sort out different head gaskets.

If you want to use the 2.0lt CDB, but want bigger, it's easier to stroke it using the 2.5lt crank, and appropriate pistons/rods.
