Rocker cover/Cam cover gaskets help?
Hi going to put new ones on they look ok to do? are they any advice tips getting off. Also i have priced them up and they are the same price from camberley autofactors as the oem ones but will cam auto`s be a good fit as thier only 5 mile away and the dealer 30 miles away just wanted to know if they need any extra gasket seal on them etc...and does the spark plug rubbers need doing aswell thanks in advance.
If your doing it I would recommend buying a gasket kit, which includes a gasket kit for both the drivers and passenger side covers. Will have 2 big gaskets, 4 spark plug gaskets, and IIRC 6 stud gasket-washers for each side.
It isn't a hard job just fiddley. 1st time should take you 90 minutes or so, maybe more maybe less. To do the drivers side, remove the airbox and resonator. To do the passenger side, remove the windscreen washer watertank and maybe the battery.
A spanner set which has "ratchet ring end's" are very useful, 12mm for the coil pack removal and 10mm for the rocker cover.
I applied a small amount of gasket sealant when I did mine and it hasn't leaked 1 year on

As above just make sure all surfaces are clean and degreased and add a smear of sealant on all faces it must be the high temp sealent or it will just dry up and crack , also don't over tighten the rocker cover bolts or they will shear the correct torque setting is only low so use common sense .
You may also need to change the cam half moons , probably best to do while it is all off .
