Default V1 Wrx vs V1-2 Sti

Any one know any real difference between the engines and gearboxes between jap v1 wrx and jap v1-2 stis.

I think the sti are shorter ratio gearboxes and does the engine come with forged pistons.

All info is appreciated.

Sti V1's are a different kettle of fish to version 2's,

IIRC v1's run standard wrx running gear with a handbuild blueprinted forged (internals) engine, but on a 240ps ecu.

v2's have a forged engine but not blueprinted and balanced to the spec of a v1 but running a 260ps ecu and different running gear.

wrx's have wrx running gear and cast engines and 240ps ecu (saloon)
