sti up-pipe o2 sensor

If the Sti up-pipe doesn't have an o2 sensor - then does that cause problems when fitted to a WRX that's expecting one? Will I get a warning light?

The sensor I think in the up pipe is an exhaust gas temperature sensor on the WRX. and yes will cause a warning light unless you replace the sensor with a 2.2k (IIRC) resistor...
