Default First Engine Mod

Recently bought myself an 02 WRX and while the handling is good, STi springs, new pads going on Eagle F1's I wanted something to balance out the power a bit more. It seems its very slow to pick up in 2nd but when it does it shifts. Is there a standard first engine mod people do? Or I should I just go and get it remapped? Would I see much benefit out of that? Cheers

you would gain mapping the car regardless of mods but obviously the more you have done sensibly beforehand the better the gains.. decat being the quickest and easiest gain..
