Default Exhaust Problem

Right... Just received a midpipe for my 94WRX, it's apparently the same make as the backbox (HKS HIPOWER SILENT). But the piping on the backbox is 3", and the midpipe seems 2", what effects will this have? will it be ok?

just measured, it's 2.5", so it that case....is it alright to have 2.5" downpipe, into 2.5" midpipe then into 3" backbox, so the backbox piping is thicker than the rest of the system.

At the moment my exhaust is 2.5" decat downpipe to 3" system, but when I fit this new one, the mid section will change to 2.5" but the backbox will stay at 3". What will I notice from the decrease on pipe size on the midpipe?
