Same on my 95 WRX, most on here agree brakes are shocking and recommend the four pot conversion, this is the route i will be going down as soon as i can get hold of a set of four pot calipers.

4 pots from later classic fit straight on ( i did mine last year) i've left the rear as standard for the moment.
you will need the correct size pads and discs for them (obviously).4 pots are only as good as the discs/pads that you've fitted, i went with Black Diamond pads, standard discs,Goodridge hosing and dot 5.1 fluid and they work great (well compared to 2 pots).

How the brakes operate with different temperatures is all down the the pad material. The number of pistons has nothing to do with it. If you are just using the car on the road then you can simply use standard disc and pads and they will work from cold. For the "spirited driver" an uprated pad maybe in order. I use mintex 1144's but there are plenty to choose from.
