wrapping downpipe
is there a system to wrapping a down pipe with exhuast wrap.
Do you start at the top or the bottom,
dose the wrap stick to the exhuast after its been warmed up or is it a case of wrap it tighter?

Start at the top, Best way is to wet the wrap it works better over lap quarter to half.

Damp it a little and start from the top so that's nice and tight. Keep pulling it tight as you work downwards. You'll need either stainless steel lockwire or 'snap straps' to secure it, it doesn't stick to anything by itself.
There are several different types of wrap. Some are applied dry, the white woven type for instance. The closer woven brown rap is best applied damp but not wet. I use DEI wrap as it is close woven, does not streach too much and the weave does not open out as much as some and has a stitch down the side so you get the overlap correct. It is not the cheapest but in my experience is probably best value for money when performance is considered.
Keep it tight.
I always start at the bottom and use tie wire and a tie wire tool as this is most economical method in terms of cost and time but if you are doing the job as a one off the cost of a tie tool is perhaps prohibitive.
