Default Car Won't Start!!!

I know these threads come up quite a bit....now it is my turn!!!

Car started for 2-3 seconds then cut out. Will turn over fine but won't fire up. It is getting plenty of fuel, but would appear to be no spark.

Could a dodgy coilpack cause it? I'd have thought that if a coilpack had gone it'd start but run lumpy.

Another thing is that it seems to turn over very quickly, so will have a look in the morning incase the cambelt has gone.

Any ideas as to what i should check? Crank sensor?

I'd check that cambelt first. If it is turning over noticeably faster it may well be that.

Tried to the car this morning and it started, although ran a bit rough.

The idle kept going up and down, and the radiator fans were cutting in for 3-5 seconds even though the engine was cold, and the CEL came on when the fans were on.

After a few minutes the idle seems to have settled down.

Any ideas what could cause this?

It best to check what the fault codes are? Engine check light via the normal procedure.

I would say your coolant temp sensor could be at fault if the fans keep kicking in but then its worth doing the check procedure 1st to make sure.
