i have just fitted a fmic to my 1994 impreza turbo. when started the car it was fine for a minute or so and now the check engine light has flicked on.

i have not taken the car for a spin yet but...

is this normal? any ideas what could have caused this?

Most FMIC's require an induction kit, so is the MAF all reconnected correctly, no leaks?

as above check for loose sensor connections around the drivers side inner wing, if nothing obvious then read the error codes

ok just woke up now. im gonna check all the connections around the maf area and go over all the connections everywhere.

its weird though, because the check engine light comes on for a couple of minutes then swithces off for a minute then switches back on.. it carried on doing this yesterday.

i spoke to mechanic yesterday and he reckoned that i might need an ecu remap as the car is drawing in much more air???? im not too sure but will keep u guys updated.

thanx guys

it is most likely down to the sheer amount of air that is being drawn in in comparison to the standard intercooler, you will need a remap for sure whether this check engine light is to do with that or not, purely because of the intercooler drawing more air in and not being able to match the fueling to it, therefore running lean and possibly blowing the engine up in one way or another.

the error code the ecu is giving out is 45.. apparently that is a air pressure sensor. im going to change that but somehow dont fell that this will rectify the problem...

might have to consider a re-map now but wished i hadnt bothered with the fmic because i just wanted to make the car look good because i want to sell it.

oh well...
