Question PTFE tape & senders

When installing senders/adaptors into the block, is the PTFE tape used in household plumbing suitable/the same..?

Thanks,
J

yep, thats the stuff, put a good bit on, and put it on in the direction, as when you screw the sender it, the tape gets tighter, not undoing it.

Agreed it is very good stuff, But be sure to use only as much as you need, as it will find its way into the oil/water and could cause problems

Cheers guys, great response..

How difficult is the blanking bung above #3 to undo (car 20 months old)..?

I can see access is not a problem with IC off, just worried incase it's a tight b@stard, as allen/hex bolts have a tendancy to strip in my experience..

Mine was tighter thena gnats chuff

Used a long handle 8mm allen key and clamped an adjustable 2 spanners on it to form a handle for leverage, after swearing a lot, spraying WD40 and losing skin the b@stard broke free and came loose no problems

getting it out isn't a problem. I found putting the sensor and everything back on was a nightmare without tearing the cables! Worked in the end though, and used PTFE tape just like suggested, no leaks

I've got an 18" bar, extensions and socket hex/allen bits, so hoping it'll be easier than using keys..!

Ill echo that. I used a 8mm hex socket and was still tighter than a snakes rse in a sandstorm. Much swearing, much lost skin and a few cheater bars to get it off eventually.
