No,

S3 less power, heavier = slower

I'm sure you'll get lots of figures but that's the long and short of it.

Welcome to the board by the way

thanks!

what standard s3? yeah its kinda of a poor setup i agree... and that quattro system is pretty heavy... does the job well though...

so no bhp or torque figuers? 0-62 and 0-100 would be nice too

Don't get me wrong I think the S3 is a great car but If you're looking at figures then the scoob comes out on top. I don't have any figures to hand tho.

What power do you think a S3 needs to be tuned to to give the WRX a good run for it's money?

From memory:

Standard MY00 Scooby Turbo:

Power: 218bhp
Torque: 215 lbf*ft
Weight: 1235kg

0-60: 5.3
0-100: 14.8
(I think these are the figures Evo quote).

thanks carl... interesting!

my s3 has lots more power but still only just beats the times... guess that weight really does slow it down...

Thumbs up

No problem.........I suspect yours would be very competitive. I'll leave it at that. I'm sure a few people will want to debate the relative merits of both cars tho

Doesn't really matter, I've seen an AMD S3 destroy a MY2000 Impreza. There is no competition.

The standard S3 almost accelerates as hard as a MY2000 Scoob through the gears but is not as quick off the mark.

very diplomatic... at the end of the day the s3 doesn't have a bright light for the clock and has a glove box lock so it has to be a clear winner right?

Here we go.......................
Another My Scoobs better than your Audi or vise-versa.

My two penneth
0-60 is 6.9 v.s 5.3 for the scoob - that really does not compare!
BHP per tonne 155 v.s 178 so a bit off again!
top speeds around 140 for both, cannot remember the 1-100 or TED times

I drove a std S3 and Std My99 Scoob - Brought the Scoob, The S3 is better built, Scoob is a more involving drive and a lot more fun and feels (is faster). It also has more leg room, 4 doors and a bigger boot!
Bison - you did not mention your S3 was not std - play the game!

Most UK MY1999 Scoobs have around 227-235BHP as std

I am sure an AMD chipped S3 would 'destroy an stock Scoob - however there are more powerful and quicker Scoobs - Craig H's did a outstanding 0-60 of around 3.9 or so i believe - fair bit quicker than the RS4!

This could go on forever, horses for courses.

Drove both and made my decision - still happy with it.

Wayhey!
Could be the the 1st 'My cars better than your car' thread of 2002!!

Fecking Audis - You know God drives a Scooby

Paul

yeah i agree with your scooby/audi comments... the s3 is very luxurious but not slow car as stock... really need to do something to it ecu wise to bring it to life... then its a monster!

"Bison - you did not mention your S3 was not std!"

i've now implied and said it straight out once... i'll say it again - my s3 **ISN'T** stock...

yeah and you can get a 330bhp s3 so yes it is horses for courses... but lets not go down that whole audi v's scooby route.... i just wanted on paper stats thats all!

can i delete this post now?

well im bored at work so i have nowt better to do than compare my torque figures to that of carrera's and m3's and laff...

so i thought i would find out what the scooby's do...

but i fear it's turning into V's war which is really tedious and you never get a clear answer...

which scooby owners are going to santa pod on the 27th?

LOL... 340bph.. 4 doors and a **** off huge boot!!

Unfortunatly it is standard.. but then 4.2L V8's are not that easy to tune!

Santa Pod would be an interesting comparison, any 1/4m times for Scooby's ? Last time there my TT did 14s but with a slipping clutch - hopefully on the 27th it'll be fixed

Andre from Audi-Sport got his S6 ECU remapped and ended up with nearly 400bhp! Not bad tuning wise, add a full exhaust system and you could have 420bhp Dave!

yea.. I know Andre well.. very interested to see what he had done!...

Personally i am waiting on the RS6.. same 4.2 V8 but with twin turbo-charges. Audi say to expect 420 to 450 bhp but german tuning houses already looking to boost it to 600bhp!

Yipee!!.. get your orders in now.. £55,000 (cheaper as import)

Dave...

In most magazines Audi were saying 460bhp! Bit of competition for the M5.
