I need to order these bearings, and with the £ to the $, it seems silly not to order from the US, but the company I want to use have said they can supply both main and rod bearings but need the following info:

*You must specify the width of the rod journal, 48mm or 52mm, and the position of the thrust bearing, center position (#3) or end position (#5), when ordering. This information is needed in order to ensure that you receive the correct bearings for your engine as it has become apparent that model year alone cannot determine the correct bearings.*

I have a very late 1996 WRX (MY 97 engine spec) impreza. Can the above info be determined, without stripping the engine first?

You can get a set for £125 inc VAT mains and rods race bearings in the UK .. why goto the states and risk import duty?
