usually its the plastic joint part that joins to the motor than breaks and falls apart leaving it all floppy. the bar can be bought from subaru on its own i have been told, or a second hand one from a scrappy can fix it. replacing isnt that hard, just hope you have smallish hands.

About 14 quid for the linkage new from Subaru. Take the black plastic wiper mechanism cover off first, so you can determine which of the linkages is actually gonzo. Mine was the motor arm to first linkage bush. You will need pretty much all of the plastic clips that hold the black wiper grill on too. They are too easy to destroy getting them off.
