Default WRX VS STI ENGINE

I'm going to buy a new WRX or STI import (Cyprus/Malta) same spec as uk so they say. I will be modifying the car for more power shortly after i get it. Does anybody know or where i can find out what the main differences are between the standard motors?

I have just bought a STI WRX PPP on a 03
I have been racing Cosworths for the last 18 years and have a 450BHP track Cossy at present, I think I bought the right Impreza to modify, a whole new experience for me as I do all my own modifying. Will have to see what these motors are made of and capable of taking.
