Default Brake Calipers compatible?

Afternoon all, ive recently had my car in the garage for its MOT. It passed with flying colours but when i asked them why my brakes were squeeking ive found one of my calipers is seized.

Now ive been offered a pair off a bloke on here ( umran9 ) - he says there off a 1996 car ( 96 STi ) and that they will fit my MY99 UK turbo.

Can someone confirm that these will indeed fit correctly?

Thanks

Adam

If they are the original ones from a MY96 they will be 2pot calipers (crap-ola). They will be a direct fit but you will have 4pot calipers on as standard so why down-grade?.
My advice would be to get another set of 4pots from MY99>classic or newage WRX or get your calipers refurbished and you will be sure of the comdition.

Oh right, this bloke told me they were 4 pots and that they are a direct alternative?

Could be telling fibs i suppose.

Thanks

Ask for a picture....

Shouldn't have passed the MOT with a seized calliper either!

I thought that about the MOT but when i asked the owner he said they couldnt test the brakes due to the car being 4wd?

He didnt tell me what method they usually use - and it passed everything else - so i said nothing.

He said he checked the brake pads and there was plenty left so they did nothing.

Thats a bag of *****
Test of brakes, take car out side, drive up to 30mph and stop, brakes tested on a 4wd vehicle
Sounds like a dodgy MOT centre if you ask me (even the ones I use do that brake test )

late 96> STi's used the 4pot calipers with "SUBARU" written down the side which should be identicakl to the calipers on a 99 car.....................
