A samco silicone one is less prone to cracking.

AFAIK Flow rate difference would be negligible.

The newage Sti y pipe is made of alloy - it is only the 90 deg bend from turbo to intercooler that is red and made of rubber. It is very thick and robust.
No need to change it for a Samco (that's if they make one for the STi???)

Samco do indeed make a turbo hose for the STi.
Samco hose is stronger (130psi+ depending on id), has a temp rating of 170-240 degrees C and its internal smoothness allows for much smoother, less disrupted airflow. That said, fitting it will be of marginal benefit over the standard red hose. More worthwhile if you're running a modified car with more than standard boost.

Cheers,

Stewart.
