Default sti engine

hey all
i think im in need of a new engine as im thinking i have blown a piston and was looking on ebay at a 96 sti engine ,as mines only a wrx will it need anything different or a remap or can i just swap them over and start it up ive had my engine out twice before so im alright with that bit.and how much work would be changing pistons myself ive done all the work on my car so far and really enjoy scraping the skin from my nuckles

What year is your WRX?

The Sti is a lower compression than the 9:1 WRX, not sure of the exact specs, but I assume its a plain STi, not an RA/R etc?

personally I wouldnt buy an engine from ebay unless it could be seen/heard running

All classic STI engines are the same. Nothing special about the R/RA as an engine over the standard 4door.
