Hope someone can help, Last night i took out my 94 WRX Import and it went like a train as per normal which it has done since the awesome power engineering sorted it 3 years ago. This moring driving to work i booted it in third gear and at about 5000rpm it just cut almost like it was getting no fuel it didnt stall or anything and i found you can drive through it. The odd thing is it does not backfire it just momentarily cuts and then continues. I was wondering if it could be the coil packs? alothugh last time it was these i got a large backfire from the exaust. I have tested it in other gears and it does the same thing maybe once or twice in the rev range towards the top. Please i hope someone can help.

Yep, I'd have a look at the plugs and coil packs first

could be hitting fuel cut for some reason? have a look at the pipework, make sure nothing has come off.

Has it thrown a CEL?

 

I have just found a small hose which has split and is going from the left hand side of the bay above the filter from some sort of contraption to the side of the engine near the turbo? could this be it?

 

More than likely, it's worth changing that just to rule it out

 

sounds like the pipes to the boost solenoid.Is it mounted on the suspension turret?
