My wife and I bought our first Scooby in July 2001, it is a five door WRX import with an automatic gearbox. So far we have added a centre and rear magnex exhaust, a K&N induction kit,(with varied opinions about this part, some say good some say take it off), we have lowered the suspension, 4 pot calipers and a strut brace. For a little while now when I start the car from cold the "power" light on the dash flashes 16 times, which apparently means that there is a fault, also there is a power loss at gear change, are these two related??

I am grateful for any advice as the garage where I bought it do not seem to know what the problem is

 

Not sure if this helps but - take it to a dealer or someone with select monitor. (Subaru computer) This will tell you if you have an electronic fault with the gearbox ecu. If not then good luck - unlike the manual version, which is broadly simular to the UK version, the Turbo Auto was never imported.
