side entry to front entry

side entry to front entry
how do you go about converting a side entry turbo (as in from a sti3 for example) to a front entry (as in on a my99), looking to replace my td04, but dont wanna spend huge money to do it (can geta vf34 for 750 fitted)

Easy, Carefully machine off the 'snorkel' close to the turbo compressor housing. Then machine off [ Saw if you can saw straight ] about 1 inch of the snorkel where the pipe clamps onto it. Then get a clever alloy welder to weld the two bits together.
Just watch the boost control though as the maps between the TD04 and 05 are not even closely similar.

found out after this that the turbos i've been looking at are direct fitment, oooops lol
i pitty the fool lol
gone for a vf30 in the end

Good Choice! It's what we use mostly on that conversion.

PS. I did wonder when I noticed you meant/said side entry as opposed to top entry [ which is the more regular description of the ' snorkel ' type of TD0's]

i actually made my 1st cut this morning i made the cut just past the end of the "clamp zone" on the inlet, although i have not cut the curved 90 degree part off yet, infact i think i will just leave that bit for my mate to machine off instead of me useing a big hacksaw
