Default Please help?

Chaps - got a problem with my car, hoping someone could guess whats wrong.

I've got a classic turbo 2000 (1997) . Any time I push the gas, the revs massively go up (say 4000), but there is little if any acceleration, or pull in the gear (it happens for all gears). I then ease off the revs to bring it below 3000, and then eventually the car starts to accelelrate (but as if with no turbo). once the car gets up some speed the revs then can start pulling the car properly and it can accelerate with turbo.

Any ideas?

thanks v much in advance

seems that the above are correct. when you step on the go pedal the clutch slips until the revs come down then it will start to accelerate the car instead of just the revs.
Is the cutch biting point near to the top of the travel if so it may be possible to adjust the clutch if not new clutch required!
Best of luck!!!!!

Slipping clutch,

As an aside how do you 'back off the revs'? I only have a throttle pedal that affects airflow!
