Very. I'm struggling to keep mine on the road at the mo. Just moved house and starting a new business so it may have to go until I can afford it again. £10 worth sees me okay for only 50 miles. Time to put my sensible head on for a few months/years me thinks. Gutted.

I cleaned the maf and its made a huge difference.

It's crap getting 250 miles out of a £50-£60 tankfull. Of course that kind of 20mpg fuel economy comes with the territory. It's not that I expect a fast car to be thrifty. It's just that I'd like to be able to take it easy and get better fuel economy e.g. 30mpg. But it's impossible. No matter how you drive it you do low 20's. Although the flip side of this is you can cruise for mile after mile at 110 on the autobahn and still see 20mpg!

Exactly, if you own a scoob just expect low MPG and drive it.

And: Autobahn??!!!??

Surely a lot depends on the mapping. I doubt you said to the mapper that you were interested in MPG. If you have ecutek cant u run dual maps - or is this just boost ? Dual maps is hardly 'fancy technology' these days. My parents Zafira diesel has a 'sport' button which switches maps etc.

A lot depends on the mileage you do each time you drive it. For example, my 98 STI is a weekend car so each time I take it out it goes at least 30 miles. I definitely don't drive like Miss Daisy but I still get an average of 24 mpg. If you do short trips all the time I think the mpg gets hit very hard.

BTW my best is over 30 when I do runs up to Cheshire. My worst was 13 on a trackday.

Bloke at work had an RX7. That used to throw fuel into the combustion chambers by the bucket, regardless whether it was going to be efficiently burned or not - made some superb pops and real bangs on the exhaust

I wish I could get 260 out of mine, the best I've done is just a tad over 200 and that is on a very long run.

Tell me bout it. A full tank, £40, see's me good for 200 miles ish..
Normal driving, I can't see the point in owning a scoob if you don't 'drive' it.

LOL yes I do honestly drive on autobahns occasionally. I'm not one of these people who talk about maxing out their Scoobs on a 'private road'. Just go to Germany instead. A 28 day ban a few years ago for 104mph slowed me right down on motorways and duals in the UK.

With 480bhp on a built 2.5L engine I can still get 240miles...... out of a 50L fuel tank on my Spec C. Must be in the mapping.

I managed to get all the way to Cornwall (210miles) from Swindon on less than half a tank. I got to see 370 miles out of that tank of fuel over the holiday. My car is a 2002 Bugeye and the journey did have some hard driving as well.

I heard you put a block of wood under the loud pedal

I wouldnt advise cleaning the MAF, if you damage it, you can end up potentially losing your engine

I have had just over 400 miles from 55 litres, when the car was fairly standard, I think I used the same block of wood that Webby used
