Default Wideband Question

So the a/f sensor on the headers on my sti 02 has gone and subaru want £291 + Vat for a replacement....

What I was thinking is, could I replace this with the cheaper Innovate LC1 kit (properly set up and mapped to emulate the OEM one), which will then give me the correct settings for the stock ecu and also true wideband support for mapping?

Anyone done it?

No is the short answer.

cheers for the quick response Andrew,

Just wondering why not? As we have just sorted a westfield with an LC1 kit literally the week before mine went, and it seemed like a good idea...

The newage (Denso) ecus don't just expect a 0-1v input signal from the O2 sensor to determine fuelling, the ecu drives the sensor in a similar way to a WB, the simple programmable voltage outputs from a LC1 (or any other WB) can't support this.

Also using a Bosch LSU4 in the headers of a turbo charged car will significantly shorten it's life due to temp and pressure.

Andrew...

Ah so basically you cannot replace the stock 'wideband' with a wb kit because it already has its own controller...

ie we do not want to emulate a wideband, but need a wideband output of the correct voltages/afr rating for the stock ecu.

further, we dont want/need 2 wb controllers

Think I understand....
