CAT or RESONATOR

On my95, does the exhaust centre section have a cat or resonator and what is the difference ?

my 93wrx only had a cat in the downpipe and a resonator in the centre section (just to keep the noise level down).
Now i have no cat and a Revolution exhaust and the noise level is still acceptable.
