Default Eeeking out a few more horses.

Not really bothered about gaining huge BHP increases just wondered what I could do to eek out a few more horses from my car.

Currently its a pretty much bog standard classic with PPP. The book figures suggest around 245BHP with PPP with a resonable amount of torque (can't remember the figure). It hasn't been on the rollers so I don't know for definite what the figures are but I imagine somewhere less than that suggested.

So without breaking the bank, and having internals replaced etc what can I expect to get out of the car without risking the motor too much, and how would I go about achieving it (in order of preference).

Oh is the PPP ECU remappable btw? Or would people just suggest leaving it alone.

So in theory my car should already have...
PPP ECU
Prodrive Back Box (which I would quite like to keep..)
Uprated fuel pump.

Anyway over to you...

tbh you either gonna have to stay where you are, or dump the ppp and get a tech3 remap, and iirc the ppp is 240bhp-240ftlb

bets bet full decat, pannel filer and remap, should see 260/260

hmm hardly worth it then...

Just checked the Prodrive specs.. it's 240PS & 350 NM
Which if maths serve me.. is 237BHP & 258 lbs ft or there abouts.

Oh well I guess there's plenty of other things I can be spending my money on..

The calculation for NM to ft/Lbs is xNm * 0.738 = x ft/Lbs

Alternative you can cheat and use this: Torque conversion online.

So if Prodrive's figures are to belived (I imagine they are a little optimistic anyway).. http://www.prodrive.com/up/99MY%20Impreza%20PPP.pdf

350 Nm * 0.738 = 258.3 ft/Lbs

Saves her indoors spending it on shoes and handbags!

Well I'll have to have a think.. was just wondering what to do once I've got the basics all sorted like my brakes, I just keep thinking of different things I'd like to do and then changing my mind.

BTW, you still loitering round that astra-sri site.. not been there in a while since I got the new toy?

ahhh good point lol

your more or less at the same stage as me then

except my gearbox is slightly stronger than yours lol, broke it last month and now got a ppg straight cut gearset in there.

once i've put the new turbo on (and if you did the same) more or less reached the safe limit of the engine, chocy pistons come into play, if you want more than that its rebuild with forged pistons ans teel rods, although by the time you've done that not much more to drop a decent 2.5 in it, then wont have to worry about melting pistons

might work she's starting to come to terms with the receipts I keep cunningly leaving about the place.. so a step by step, softly softly might just do the trick.

Alternatively, I'll just do what I did recently and drive the Astra about for a week or so, get back in the Scoob and it feels like a rocket again for a short while
