Question 35'000 miles Cambelt Yes/No

Am after some general advise, my UK300 registered July 2001 has never had a cambelt change, the service manual states 60 months / 50'000 miles. I have only covered 35'000 from new, its booked in for Thurs. Should I continue to get it changed or hold off until I've clocked up a few more miles.

Hi Nigel, its probably best to get the belt changed on Thursday. Reason being is that the cam tensioner may be leaking due to the fact its been on your car for five years. Quite a common fault for these to leak! You cant tell if they're leaking until you remove the front cam belt cover. Hope this helps mate

Definitely get it changed. It is more than 5 years old and they deteriorate with time as well as miles. BTW Scoobyclinic recommend changing at 40k so you're not far off anyway.
