Default Best person to map Gems

Steve Simpson is the nearest to me but seems to get a lot of bad press from some people, is this unfounded or do these people have first hand experience? He seems to map plenty of car's but I'm very carful who I let near my car when it comes to mapping, Andy Forrest did the last one.

Also has anyone modified a 4 pin 1993 k plate loom to suit a 3 pin Gems ECU? I know it can be done just not sure how.

Why does Steve Simpson get bad press from people.

He has mapped my car a few times, can't fault the guy, very friendly and certainly knows his stuff, i thought he had quite a lot of input into the development of the GEMS ECU.

Yes he is one of Gems mappers. I'm not saying he is a bad mapper but there seem to people who want to slate his work when you start to dig around on some forums. Maybe these people are just envious, not sure.

No but I have looked into it.. however the 4plug GEMs ecu has more features and newer software than the 3plug so unless you are getting the ecu very very cheap it is not worth the effort.

If you get it very cheap then buy a 4plug ecu and a 3plug loom and make an adaptor from them.. I should be able to send you all the wiring diagrams if you really want to attempt this.

I agree with all of the above I have never had a problem with steve's work. He is always happy to give advice.

It is always going to happen that in any job you will have a some bad jobs the more work you do the more that go wrong. But if this is put into percentage terms it is a small amount. People take the p!$$ out of Ford calling them (Fix or Repair Daily) but how long were they the number one car seller.
