Default map sensor

i am looking to fit a power fc to my 94 plate impreza and have been told that the map sensor that is fitted at the moment will only read up to 1.1 bar and that i will need a 97 onwards one because these read upto 1.8bar,the power fc will be used with my blitz i-d boost controller,is the 97 onwards map sensor a direct plug in straight swap.has anyone else had to fit one of these when running a power fc or higher boost levels.cheers

I always thought that the max on the standard map was 1.2bar......but a mate just had his '94 wrx mapped by Andy F the other day and he's running 1.35bar (on standard map sensor, injectors, regulator)

PFC limit Pre96 to 1.1bar unless you use another form of boost control or the Apexi optional map sensor and/or boost control kit (at additional cost).

the post97 map sensor does not work well with the Apexi (it's inconsistent for some reason or another).
But I havn't had any problems using one on a Pre96 with the Live mapping adaptor.

Sponners, your mate is probably running some other form of boost control to get 1.35bar. Either a mechanical controller such as a dawes or an after market electronic boost controller.

so as i have a blitz electronic i-d boost controller there is no need to replace the map sensor, when i fit my power fc,just leave the map sensor conected and it will be fine over 1.1bar?

Turn the boost control off on the PFC and use the blitz to set the boost.
Just ignore what the PFC says w.r.t boost on the commander.
