Default Apexi power FC on my99 STI type R

hello,

I would like to have pro and con about my99 Apexi power FC unit used on 99 impreza STI type R.

as this unit is a generic unit for my99 impreza. does all specific type R items would still work properly ? (IC waterpray, ...).

does all features would work the same? what woud be the down side of this unit?

I need to be able to map my car (myself) to use ron 92/95 fuel asap. if you see any other alternatives. let me know (that I could do myself as I live in mauritius island and we don't have any pro tuners)

about the water sprayer and type R specific items, I would like a confirmation from someone who has a type R with power FC installed. I don't want to do any stupid move

where to buy my99 powerFC+commander other than ebay ?

cheers

i am pretty sure that the pfc does everything you need, i dont think there is any down side to it, i would not even attempt to map it yourself if i was you, get it wrong and your car will blow, unless you have the correct software.

well, it is me or nobody. unfortunatly no other options...
I did map my previous setup with emange ultimate myslelf. I'm not an expert tuner, but nothing can be worth than drive it with ron95 without timing correction...

So I'll just follow comunity main tips and go for safe airfuel value (I have a LC1) and make sure there is no knock (commander).

I don't know wich software you are talking about. I only know commander and datalogit. not sure datalogit would be needed at first. as the onlything I want for know is to be able to drive on RON95 safe map. I don't mind loosing 30 hp in the setup... as long as it is safe to use then...

I wanted to go reflash, unfortunatly that ecu doesn't have any support yet (that I could remap myself)

anyone else? is there a place where I can found many info on apexi power FC on impreza my99.
I understand that this apexi unit is premaped for WRX version. as I have STI, I guess there are basic things to do straight so it would be adjusted to be premaped for STI (redline, etc....) then I could start to tune from there. anyone?

no the base map is for sti.. and fairly agressive.. especially on your fuel..

I can send you an ignition map to load.. or a full map if you buy datalogit..
Or I could possibly sell you a PFC and a load a safer timing map into it before shipping it out to you..

only other option would be to pay a mapper to fly out..

Which reminds me.. I need to renew my passport

ohhh, that's very interesting Simon,
that might sounds strange but I'm happy to hear it is mapped for STI (maybe cause mine is an STI...) even if it is agressive timing, correct me if I'm wrong but that would mean that I would start tuning from maps close to standard STI ECU maps.

here is a pic of my ECU

I have a friend who has a tuner coming from singapore to tune his engine. but I think I'll be the one to tune this car as I did for previous one (toyota glanza 1300 cc turbo that archived 198 wheel HP)

so my best option sounds to load safe RON95 ignition map straight away and start tuning from there. looking for knocks if there is. then when I'm ready for mods, I'll invest on a datalogit and be able to go even further. (I don't plan to mod the car for now, I just want her to be safe first, learn her behavior. then we will see...)
sounds like a plan?

I'll send you a private message later

ok, I have sourced a PFC unit that is with me now. (that was the only PFC unit in the country, so I might be VERY lucky !)

the serial number is : PFC GC8F 010 - 0142

from what I remember my chassi plate number says GC8F2DD so it sounds all good. but on ebay and netgun it says PFC serial : 414AF003
so just wanted a confirmation from you guys.

is this the right unit? I need to confirm the guy today. thanks

I have just pluged the PFC.

commander shows :
EJ207
power fc
ver 6.23A
FC commander3
ver 5.00A

I have reset all data

now ready to start the engine to set up idle
but first I would like to select the full ignition map for a full quick change. I think it can be done, just can't find how :/

ok, new map installed, not knock over 15 now. sounds safe enough to me

I did a sensor check, I have those commander results when engine is off

AFL: 1.03v IGN: ●
THRO: 0.49v MRL: ●
BST1: 2.35v
BST2: 0.00v NTR: ●
WTRT: 2.94v
AIRT: 3.24v
02S: 3.24v

does it sounds good ? what is MRL ? and BST2 ?
