Default test drive

I test drove a manual 94 legacy gt a couple of days ago. The car seemed ok except when I gave it a bit of a thrashing and changed from 1st to 2nd there was a paused then a jolt as it pick up pace again. This did not happen when I drove it normally.

I owend a pulsar gti-r a year ago, and it was a totally different feeling to the lag you get off this sort of car.

Any ideas, is this normal with legacys, or should I look elsewhere.

I've always had it with my Impreza and it can't be mapped out. There is always a delay between suddenly flooring it, as in a fast run through the gears, and the engine actually getting going. You can even see the boost come in when you touch the throttle but you don't get the 'drive' for want of a better word for a fraction of a second. It's bloody annoying but everyone I've asked about this says it's just a normal feature of Subarus and you learn to drive round it by slightly slipping the clutch when you put drive in.

It's bloody shoddy though, especially if you've come from a better responding car or a NA motor.
